Tastes of Lincolnshire Support PGI for Lincolnshire

Tastes of Lincolnshire was set up in 2002 to support and promote local produce and those businesses - producers, shops, cafes, restaurants, B&Bs and pubs - where that produce can be enjoyed.

Tastes of Lincolnshire has around 200 members and to be part of it members have to fulfil certain criteria of local sourcing and are subsequently double checked via a Mystery Shopper Scheme. Tastes of Lincolnshire is therefore very committed to establishing provenance.

Tastes of Lincolnshire has had enormous support from both locals and visitors. The latter wanting to know that their experience is genuine. Food and Drink is one of the tourism experiences that most define a visit to an area and Tastes of Lincolnshire is dedicated to ensuring that a visit to Lincolnshire can offer that provenance.

Tourism is worth some £927.2m (STEAM 2007) to Lincolnshire and research by Lincolnshire Toursim (Arkenford 2008) shows that the Lincolnshire Sausage is the most commonly cited icon of the county. It is very important to us that the Lincolnshire Sausage offered is, as we know it, a quality item of food and not a poor imitation degenerating the name. I wish you every success with your campaign.

Yours sincerely,

Mary Powell
